Best thing I find is working with the various guns and making sure to get things for your unique ability. that really helped. With my Siren, I'm lvl 42. Heavily favoring the SMG but I also carry at the moment a sniper rifle, combat rifle, and currently a rocket launcher but I switch that one up. My SMG skill sits at 22 which makes reloads almost non existent. I would recommend that maybe picking 1 or 2 weapon types and focusing on those. I know the soldier and hunter get abilities to allow them to increase combat rifles and sniper rifles respectively like increased magazine size. more bullets for better mowing down. I've got it for 360 but I'm looking to purchase it again for PS3 cause I have friends there that want to play. if you have it on either of those, I'd be happy to play with ya. that's when the game really start to shine in my opinion. |

Is friendly fire a factor in the game?

Not that I've seen, my personal loadout is an SMG, Shotgun, Sniper Rifle and Pistol, switching out whichever one isn't useful in the scenario for a Rocket Launcher when needed.
I do play as a Soldier though and have gone mainly down the Medic tree. In big encounters, I just drop the turret, then use it as not only cover, but also for health and ammo regeneration, which is just insanely useful when fighting multiple things. |

What's max level in the game? I'm wondering if I can max out one tree and still have some useful things in one of the others.

max level in the base game is 50. If you get the third DLC, the one about General Knoxx, you get to level to 61. Xp can be gained in both playthrough, island of Dr Ned and the General Knoxx quests. Mad Moxxi's underdome will give XP only for completing quests and not for killing people, but the loot is good at harder levels. totally recommend that one with friends.
Friendly fire only counts if you're a soldier and you've put points in the medic tree. on or two of those skills allows you to shoot your fellow players to heal them up. other wise, you're teamates will just serve as a bullet bag if they get in your line of fire by sucking up the bullets that would have hit an enemy |
