Boondock Saints 2: All Saints Day
I was lucky enough to receive a couple of passes to the Boston screening of Boondock Saints 2 last night.
If you're a fan of the original, this movie is pretty much everything you could ask for in a sequel. The only real complaint I have is that a lot of the action scenes (as with the first one) are shots of people standing still and shooting pistols, and then shots of bad guys falling over, covered in bullet holes and blood. But...when they do try something different, it's usually fantastic. The humor is really what makes these movies, in my opinion. And this is where the movie really shines. It's one of the funniest action movies I've seen in a very very long time...but understand that much of the humor builds off of some of the gags in the first film, so if you haven't seen the original or didn't like it...you may not appreciate it. The plot takes a while to get going...but once it does build some momentum, it doesn't stop, and the ending surprised the hell out of me in a very good way. 4/5 For the Boondock Saints fans out there. You *need* to see the first one to appreciate this movie. And in my opinion...you need to see the first one...period. It's a classic. |

It really is a great movie. Ten years later I still quote it constantly.
"He's going f***ing nowhere. Where you going? NOWHERE!" "So we have a huge guy theory...and a serial crusher theory. Top notch!" |

Ok, so we just got done watching this one..
I would have to agree 100% with what DashCat9 said. The rope was classic. As was the ending. My favorite part was the dream the boys had with Rocco after Greenly's death.. The best monologue I've ever seen in an action movie. |

Poor Greenly. That was the second time I've shouted "NOO!!!!" at a screen in a movie theater. (The first being during Serenity, but as I don't want to spoil the movie in a non-Serenity thread, there's a similar death scene). "Thanks for coming out!"
One of the most surreal moments in my life was going to the bathroom after the movie and Bob Marley (Detective Greenly) walks in and yells "**** Sandwich!" at Sean Patrick Flannery, and then having a conversation with Billy Connolly about how great the movie was while washing my hands. |

I saw the movie at it's world premiere in Boston. Pretty much everyone but Willem Dafoe, Julie Benz and Clifton Collins Jr. were there and everyone went to a bar in Boston afterward where they fed us and gave us free Guinness. It was pretty epic.
