I'm stuck

Heya all,
in this thread I would like to ask for your help.
I'm writing a story, but for some reasone i don't know how to continiue.
please help
here goes...

Prologue

Once upon a time, in a land where elves and man lived along side each other in peace, there was also an evil Warlock.
This Warlock was called Domhnall, meaning world leader.
Domhnall, as all warlocks, desired power over everything else.
He also knew a way to gain power as fast as possible.
He had heard rumors of a stone, with the ability to draw any power out of anyone, and transfer it to the one who would possess the stone at that moment.
He searched everywhere, but he could not find it.
Over time, he met several people, and we will see some of them in this story.
It all began when he was just a child

1

‘Halt, thief!’ The guards shouted wile running after a young boy.
‘That bread is not yours, give it back!’
The young boy, around the age of 12, smiled and ran on, turning one corner after another.
“You’ll never catch me!” He yelled at the guards, when they turned the corner to find him standing on a rooftop, waving the bread he stole above his head.
The boy turned and ran, jumping of the roof and disappearing in the crowds.
The guards were tired, and they had ran a long distance, and so they did not really want to go look for the boy.
They walked off, cursing under their breaths.
After about a minute or so, the boy’s head appeared out of the crowd.
He smiled, and he tossed the bread from one hand to the other.
Then he sat his teeth in the crispy crust of the dread and began eating while walking home.
This boy was none other than Domhnall, back when he was young.
He lived with his grandfather, but the old man was too old to work, so Domhnall had to find his own food.
And since Domhnall was just a kid and too young to make enough money, he had no other choice then to steal.
But he was a good thief, and even though he wasn’t really stealthy, the guards never ever caught him before.
A tall man was standing in the shadows, watching the boy.
He had seen everything and he was impressed, which was very rare.
This man was a Wizard, one of the best that ever lived, and he had seen potential in the boy who had stolen the bread.
So when the boy walked off, the tall man followed.
At first, Domhnall was not aware of his silent pursuer, but after some time he felt something was wrong, very wrong.
He stopped eating and looked over his shoulder, but he saw nothing.
Domhnall walked on, and with every step he felt insecure, as if someone was watching him.
Little did he know, that at that same moment the wizard was following him, mimicking his every step.
Suddenly Domhnall stood still, looking straight ahead.
If anyone were following him, he would not make it easy for them.
He waited for a split second, and then he broke into a run.
This was a standard technique of his, a foolproof way to shake off pursuers.
Or, at least, so he thought.
The wizard was impressed.
There was a force in the boy that even he couldn’t explain.
He saw the intensions of the boy, but he was not going to let this potential apprentice get away.
He mumbled a few words and suddenly he was floating in the air, as a ghost, not bothered by the people in the streets or the walls of houses.
Domhnall ran, but he didn’t seem to get rid if his follower.
He ran even faster, almost knocking over an old lady, but his pursuer was not planning on giving up.
Domhnall tuned a corner, planning to do the same trick he used against the guards.
He closed his eyes and focused on the rooftops.
A second or so later, he was standing on one of the rooftops, in full view, but safe.
The wizards floated down the street where the boy just had been running.
He turned the corner and found that the boy was gone.
He was surprised, but not for long, for he remembered the little trick on the guards.
“Come down from there, boy, before you will hurt yourself.” The wizard said in a low, friendly voice.
Domhnall looked down, at the man who was standing there.
No, not standing, floating.
“A-are you a…” He said.
“A wizard, yes.” Said the man.
Dohmnall was thunderstruck, and didn’t say anything.
“My name is Hall,” Continued the wizard, “and I have seen your talent for the art.”
It took a moment for Dohmnall to understand, but then the words of the wizard hit him.
“A-Art?” He asked, finding his voice at last, “surely you don’t mean wizardry?”
The thought alone was absolute nonsense.
He, a lowly orphan, gifted with the art of wizardry?
This had to be a joke, if nothing else, so Domhnall smiled and thought of his granddad, pulling a prank on him.
But the man was not laughing, and Domhnall was confused again.
“I am not joking, boy, I am very serious.” Hall said, seeing the look on Domhnall’s face.
“You used magic to get atop the roof, did you not?” Hall looked at the boy, and Domhnall was looking back at him.
“W-what do you want from me?” Domhnall asked after a short moment of silence.
Hall smiled.
“This is not about me, it’s about you.” He replied calmly.
“I sense the art of wizardry is strong inside you, and I can help you understand.”
“It will be hard work, but I guaranty you that once you learned from me, you will be…”
Domhnall, who was now shaking his head in disbelief, cut him off.
“You must be crazy,” He said “how else can you say that I have the Art.”
“The trick with the roof if just something I learned from running from guards.” Domhnall raged on.
“I was thinking of the rooftops and suddenly I was on them, that’s no magic, that’s mere…mere…”
Domhnall fell silent.
It had been weird, being on the roof all of a sudden, but he never thought of it as magic.
How could it be?
He always heard that magic was hard to do, and the roof-trick never seemed difficult at all.
“It is magic, and I am not crazy, I can assure you.” Hall said with a little grin on his face.
He saw the confusion on Domhnall’s face and continued: “I will not press you to be my apprentice, but I do ask you to think about it.”
“I will be back tomorrow morning, then I want your answer.”
With those words, the Wizard left, leaving a stunned and confused Domhnall behind.
After a while Domhnall got off the roof, and he started walking.
Domhnall thought about the words of the wizard, all the way to his grandfather’s house.
Could he really be a wizard?
Was it a joke, or did that man really see something in him.
Could it be he was not just some other thieving kid like everyone always thought he was?
He wasn’t really paying any attention to the road, and it surprised him that he found himself back at the spot were he had lost the guards.
He spend sometime looking at the place were he stood on the roof. Free as a bird.
Had it really been magic?
Domhnall shook his head and walked of, back to his grandfather.
When Domhnall opened the door to his grandfather’s house, he looked in disbelief.
Two guards were standing there, inside of the house.
Domhnall’s grandfather was nowhere to be seen.
“Well well well.” The tallest guard said.
‘Where is my grandfather?’ Domhnall asked.
The second guard grinned falsely and walked towards Domhnall.
The boy backed away, but too late.
The guard was already in front of Domhnall and he grasped the boy in the scruff of his neck
He held Domhnall before his face and smirked.
“So you though’ you could ge’ away?” He asked, his breath smelling worse than rotten eggs.
Domhnall tried to say something and hold his breath at the same time.
The result was a small noise that held the middle of a snort and a squeak.
The guard grunted and turned, dragging the boy with him.
The smelly guard dropped Domhnall in front of the tall guard and then stood next to his colleague.
“Well well.” the tall guard said again, and Domhnall could swear that the guard could say nothing else.
But then the tall guard spoke again: “Do you know who I am?”
Domhnall saw the dangerous look in the guard’s eye, and he shook his head.
“I am the head of the guard here,” said the tall man, “and I’ve heard that you’ve been causing trouble.”

The smelly guard sniggered, but ducked away when the tall guard shot him a deadly glance.
“I’ve also heard that the guards never caught you,” continued the guard looking back at Domhnall, “and that they are laughed at.”
Domhnall just stood there, trying to figure out what the guards were getting at.
Before Domhnall could respond, however, the tall guard spoke again, and this time his voice was thick with rage.
“I don’t like being laughed at.” He said and he kicked a vase, which stood on the flour, in pieces.
“You are the reason they laugh at us,” the guard said now and he walked towards Domhnall, “so if you are gone, they will stop laughing.”
The guard moved, with abnormal speed.
In less than a second Domhnall was on the flour. Painful and bleeding.
He didn’t see the guard’s blow coming, and he was caught by surprise.
His nose hurt, and there was blood on the flour, his own blood.
The guard stood towering over him, smirking.
“Not so tough now, eh?” He said sarcastically, while dragging Domhnall to his feet.
“If it weren’t fo’ your age, you’d be in prison right now.” giggled the smelly guard, behind the large back of his companion.
The tall guard was in too good a mood to frighten his college, and instead he kicked Domhnall down again.
Then he laughed, and the smelly guard giggled.
“Now, tell me. How does that feel?” The tall guard asked Domhnall.
“Not nice at all, right!” The guard scouted and kicked the poor boy in the gut.
Domhnall coughed, clutching his stomach.
The guard laughed again, and he kicked Domhnall through the room.
Domhnall slammed into the wall of the tiny house, the impacted slamming all the air from his body.
He fell on the ground, gasping for breath.
The tall guard bend over him, so that his face was level with Domhnall’s, and smirked.
”Now,” He said while tilting the boy’s head so Domhnall could see his face, “We are going to let you go,” he put up a hand to silence his now protesting colleague, “if you are gone by tomorrow.”
“If not…” he put a finger to his throat and made a ripping sound while he moved it across his neck.
Then the two left, leaving a miserable and painful Domhnall behind.
When the two guards were gone, Domhnall stood, still clutching his stomach, and walked over to the table at the far end of the room.
He sat down on one of the two simple wooden chairs and looked around.
The small room was a mess, with the smashed vase lying in pieces on the flour.
Domhnall heard a sound coming from the cupboard standing in one corner of the room.
It was the biggest thing in the whole house, including the beds.
There was a copper lock and mashing key.
Domhnall never really liked the cupboard, and when he was younger he had been scared of it.
Domhnall stood up from the chair and, with a lot of grunting and panting, walked to the cupboard.
He looked at the lock, and then he turned the key.
A large and grey figure fell out of it, almost squashing Domhnall.
Domhnall yelped and leapt back.
The figure fell on the flour, and it made a moaning noise.
It moved stiffly, slowly, and tried to stand.
Domhnall’s head filled whit horrors beyond belief, as the figure stood up and moaned again.
“Domhnall…” It said, and the terror leaped to Domhnall’s throat; the thing knew his name.
Domhnall looked in terror as the figure came towards him.
He wanted to scream and run, but he was paralyzed.
The terror must have been visible from his face, because the figure now spoke again, and it’s voice had some kind of concern in it.
“Domhnall, it’s me.”
Than it hit Domhnall, like a blow from a guard.
It was not a monster, not even close.
It was his grandfather.
“G-Gramps?” Domhnall asked, unsure.
“Yes, Domhnall, it’s me.” His grandfather said.
“How did you get inside the cupboard?” Domhnall asked.
“I don’t know.” His grandfather said.
“First I was lying on my bed in the other room, and the next thing I know I’m in there, hearing you talk to those boy’s.”
His grandfather took a look around the room, and he took a sharp breath.
“What happened here?” He asked Domhnall.
Domhnall looked at his feet, and didn’t know what to say.
If he told his grandfather the truth, the old man would worry about him.
But if he lied, who knew what would happen to them both.
Domhnall heaved a sigh and looked grandfather in the eye, and decided what to do.
“Gramps,” He said, “There were some guards here, just a minute ago.”
His grandfather looked at Domhnall with suspicion, but before he could ask something Domhnall spoke again.
“They were here for me, and they told me to leave.”
“I don’t want to leave, but,” He tried to swallow the tears, but he couldn’t stop the tremble in his voice, “but I will have to.”
His grandfather stood very still, taking in what his grandson was saying.
Domhnall looked at his grandfather, waiting for the outburst of emotion, but it never came.
The old man just nodded, and went to one of the chairs to sit down.
“If that is what you must do,” He sighed, “then I will not hold you back.”
Domhnall watched his grandfather who suddenly looked ten years older, but he couldn’t say anything to make things better.
Then he remembered the man from earlier, and he got an idea.
“Gramps,” He said, ”I met a man in town this morning, and he told me that he wanted me to be his apprentice.”
His grandfather looked up in surprise, but before he could react Dohmnall spoke again.
“He said that he would come back tomorrow, but maybe I can go with him now.”
His grandfather nodded, thinking it over.
“What did that man say to teach you?” He asked.
“Well,” Dohmnall said, thinking, “He said he could learn me how to do wizardry.”

Dohmnall began to pack as soon as he could, and was done very fast.
He didn’t have much to pack, and he needed even less.
When he was done he turned to his Grandfather, to say his goodbyes.
“Good luck, little one.” The old man said, blinking tears from his eyes.
“I’ll be back, Granda,” Dohmnall said,” I promise.”
His grandfather only nodded, voice too laden with tears to speak.
As Dohmnall walked out the door, he took one last look at what had been his home for as long as he could remember.
A tear rolled down his cheek, but the boy briskly whipped it away.
The he turned around, and left his past, his home and his memories behind.
When he turned the corner he almost bumped into someone who was seemingly waiting for someone else.
“Hello Dohmnall.” A deep, familiar voice spoke.
Dohmnall looked up to see de wizard, Hall, standing there, with a hint of glee in his eyes.
“Have you made a decision?” Hall asked.
“I’ll go with you to be your apprentice.” Dohmnall said in a defeated voice, only to look up puzzled.
“How do you know my name?” He asked.
“I know many things, my boy, and so will you, once you learn.”
The old wizard smiled and led Dohmnall to the city gates.
The streets were disserted, and they didn’t encounter any problems until they reached the gates.
At the gates there were two men waiting.
A tall man, with a nasty smirk on his face, and a smaller figure, who spread a nasty Oder into the evening air.
“Evenin’ gents,” The smelly guard said,” out fo’ a little stroll, eh?”
Dohmnall said nothing as he and the wizard walked on.
The tall guard stood in front of the gateway, blocking it from sight.
“Well, well, well,” He said, and Dohmnall rolled his eyes unnoticeable,” running, are we?”
When Dohmnall didn’t speak, the tall guard spoke for him.
“Who’s being laughed at now, hmm?”
He pointed a large finger at Dohmnall and thundered with laughter.
“Excuse me, dear man,” Hall spoke with a soft, persuading voice, ”But would you mind stepping aside, me and my pupil would like to pass.”
With that, the tall guard laughed even harder.
“PUPIL?!” He spat ”More like stray cat!”
Dohmnall looked at his feet.
What could he say?
He’d always been a stray, and he was pretty nimble.
All in all he took it as a compliment.
“My pupil is no longer a stray, nor was he ever a cat, now please let us move on.” The wizard spoke again, this time with more force.
The tall guard looked baffled for a moment, surprised that the old man would speak so forcefully.
That he regained his posture.
“And who are you?” He asked rudely, prodding a finger in the wizard’s chest.
Hall didn’t back away, but instead placed his hands on the finger of the guard.
He turned to Dohmnall briefly.
“Now pay attention.” He said, with a wink.
The tall guard was about to say something, but Hall, who began saying some kind of spell, cut him off.
A bright light erupted from the hands of the wizard, and soon Dohmnall had to shield his eyes against the glow.
But he was just able to see what happened.
The tall guard tried to pull his finger back, but it seemed as if it was glued to the wizard’s hands.
Then, suddenly, the tall guard squealed, in a high voice.
“Let go!”
The tall guard tried even harder to pull free, but it only seemed to increase his pain.
Then Hall turned, his hands still on the guard’s finger.
The guard seemed to be lifted up in the air with no effort at all.
Hall put the shaking guard down, next to the gateway, and let go of the guard’s finger.
The guard shook heavily, that collapsed, clutching his index finger.
The smelly guard rushed over to his comrade’s aid, but was stopped by a glance of the old wizard.
Hall now looked at Dohmnall, who was baffled, but also impressed.
“How did you do that?” The boy asked, breathless.
“That, my boy, was a lifting-charm.” The wizard explained.
“You will learn this and much, much more from me, if you are willing.”
Dohmnall smiled, looking at the tall guard, now nothing more than a little pile of misery.
“I would love to learn from you.” He said, still smiling.
The old wizard nodded, than walked through the gate, unopposed by anyone.
Dohmnall followed close behind.
Outside the city gates, a small, narrow path twisted through the vast, green hills.
Hall walked fast, and in less then one hour Domhnall was exhausted.
Even though the sun was setting, the late summer air was still warm.
Domhnall wiped the sweat of his brow.
The hills were now slowly giving way to a forest.
The serene silence surrounded Hall and Domhnall the minute they entered the forest.
Birds were singing in the trees, but for some reason there songs sounded far away.
