It's a fair point - the Datalogue expands upon the cut-scenes, but it's not necessary to follow.

It's really nice when you've not played for a while, and want to jump back in - what was happening again? Oh yeah... *flip flip flip* I remember now.

Okay let me see what I like and dislike about this game..

Pros:
The combat is fun but sometimes feels repetitive I just like the gliding feeling it gives (no stress, no struggle.. simple and easy). Switching group tactics (Comm, Syn, Medic..etc) is a nice addition for me, I've never played group fights like this before. However, it also makes me feel everyone can do almost everything everyone does (with little exceptions and limitations). But I'm not too far in it yet so we'll see.

Cons:
Story and Characters
Story is boring.. it is actually torturing more than boring. Looking at barbie dolls playing in barbie land, cliche love story that makes me shiver with disgust and want me to shove something in my eyes and stab my ears.. it is painful. Whenever I see that "snow" with his fancy hat and shaved-with-perfection eye brows I just feel I'm playing Barbie.

I don't care for Serah or why she changed into crystal whenever I get these flash backs I feel I want to kill myself. The kid and his mother do not make things any easier and that cheesy character Valine? god damn... I just feel amazed that the best character is the afro-man Zaszh? even though I felt he looked stupid before I buy the game.

Setting and Atmosphere
I am not a fan of randomness and chaotic creativity. Lots of technological "beings" what the hell is that.. but I'm not a fan of Japanese art and game lore anyway so that figures.

The first fight really gave me a bad impression... I was thinking "I am fighting an airplane-being??" god.... I fight gadgets and vehicles all the time. That's something I dislike, but it's probably only me.

The world doesn't feel real I just feel like I'm in a "ride" it is so linear and the people feel like super-models with perfect make up, actors to shoot the scene and then go home. I swear I could see a camera or microphone if I just squint.....

Bodhum to me is a perfect example of hell. Everyone looks perfect everyone happy "haha!!" kind of scary happiness. Everyone's smiling and everyone's young.... Scary.

Plot
They want us to think there's a system and society with its "unique" conflicts and political struggle by just naming things in a funny way. Cocoon, Fal'cie, Sanctum, Pulse... can't they give us better names.. and why this repeating of L'cie, L'cie...l'cie..l'cie.. I swear if they say l'cie another time I'm going to shoot everyone in the game.. but alas I cannot do that because like all other Japanese RPG you cannot shoot anything you want.

With all this hate and ranting I'm demonstrating here you'd find it amusing that I am still playing the game and somewhat enjoying it (the combat part only).. but whenever I see a cut scene of that Barbie guy snow and his cheesy love story barbie girl I press start + select to skip it.

Oh, regarding Odin fight... I don't understand how this fight is supposed to be hard?! I beat it in the second time without reading any guides or knowing what's going on... the first time I failed because I was trying to fight but then I realized that odin likes to hit Hope and if you heal hope using Light you get a lot of Gestalt.. so, second try.... make Hope a synergist and Light a medic.... then press X button as fast as you can until the bar get filled and press the Square button.... that's it... X X X X X X X buttons then Square button... is this hard? :O

Weird Yewsef.. My wife is at that fight now. I had her try your way as it looked far easier than how I did it. Unfortunately, it didn't work. Ultimately, she made me do the fight for her, and I ended up switching paradigms between ravager-ravager for when Odin had his shield up and medic-medic for when he was attacking. Of course, I leveled up her spark rings and weapons prior to the fight as well. I just bounced between paradigms until I filled up his gestalt meter.

Not sure why your way didn't work.
