No wonder it was so quiet. (5/7)

To be clear, I have not seen Spiderman 3 yet. I dislike theatres, I'm a hermit. So being anywhere near a theatre within a month of a movie's release is pretty much out of the question. But, I felt the need to play Friday's comic out to it's end.

The downside of this particular comic is that there's not much I really feel needs to be said about it. So that leaves me to run my mouth to fill space. And, that's no good for any of us. **grins**

First up, my mom's donation drive for her Relay for Life walk seems to have been a glowing success. Her goal was $300. And you guys helped her surpass that mark by nearly $100. (Over half of the amount her entire team raised.) I just wanted to say thanks on her behalf.

In other news, coming to GU in the next few days is the GU blog. I'll be using the new section of the site and forums to discuss upcoming projects, the state of GU, game industry commentary that's not covered in the comics, and personal crap that could have implications for the site. I'll admit that I have no idea if I'll be able to keep it up. I'm a relatively private guy (see the hermit comment above); and, it's hard for me to disclose any information about myself or the comic "behind the scenes". But, GU is a community and I feel like you guys have been left a little out of the loop. And, well, I'd kinda like to correct that. You know, include you guys in what's going on.

There's also a project in the works, currently dubbed xViews, that is designed to let you guys submit editorials about aspects of the gaming industry. The submission process will also be open to industry professionals so those of you that participate will be in good company. The idea is that the gamers are just as important to gaming as the developers. There will also be Pro/Con sessions were two contributors will be selected to offer up arguments from opposite sides of an issue. This is an idea I've been considering for a while, and only really started working on it in the last couple of months. I hope it works. We'll see.

I'm not quite sure why but these forums have never felt like any of the others I've visited over the years. I think in part it's due to this place feeling like a closely guarded secret among friends rather than the bubbling cesspits other certain game official boards have descended into or particularly popular sites dominated by vocal and offensive individuals. I guess what I'm trying to say is any changes you make can only be good for GU and I look forward to them.

The question that begs to be asked... exactly what did Ted use to stick himself up there?

And glad to hear your Mom's walk turned out so well.

I agree on the Theaters. The last movie I went to within a week of it's opening date was Return of the King. Unfortunately, that only reminded me of why I hate opening week movies. Especially the guy on the Cell Phone halfway through the moving telling someone to check the turkey he had in the oven then chatted with them for another 15 minutes.

Oh and babies...., can you legally shoot people who bring babies to theaters? Isn't legal somewhere? Maybe Texas?

Lets not even delv into that, haha. Ted has one crazy mind and there is no telling.

Spiderman 3 was pretty good - but not quite as good as #2. There was a bit too much touchy-feely stuff going on; and they pulled a "batman" (too many villians; not enough screen time).

But over all; it was definitely worth seeing. Bruce Cambell stole the show tho.

Grizzlebeard - as one of the mods, Thank you, we moderate with an iron fist, and it shows.

oh yeah, and Woody keeps us, the moderators, in line so we don't turn into the vocal cesspit creators the mods on certain sites are.

I think it's because Woody gives us a link to the forums for each comic that is easy to use. Other sites I've had to hunt for the link to talk about a particular comic. If other sites would do this I'd be even more happy /w webcomics. As it is I just read the days strip and move on. Except for GUComics. I at least lurk here and post very rarely.
