I mean... WHY would I care about being shorter than a piece of cardboard? (6/26)
ConnectiCon is right around the corner now, and I'm still doing that last minute scramble to get in all the items I'm hoping to have in the booth. One such item, and it's the only one I'll tell you about, is a lifesize corrugated plastic stand-up of Ted. I've wrestled with the company who will be making it. But, it looks like it will still get here on time.
Manning a booth is not a new thing to me. But, I haven't done it for quite a while. So, it's important to me that the booth speak to the nature of GU. And were I'm trying to wrap my brain around the minor details, I think I've got enough items that I'll be proud of putting my stamp on the final product. We'll be setting up a dry run of the booth here at home before heading off to the convention. You'll have to wait for pictures though. Sorry. So, why a lifesize Ted standup? Photo-ops naturally. I've got $20 that says more people will want a picture with Ted than with me. ____________________ Today's Pimpage: The real Ted is wearing an "Octopus" shirt from Threadless.com. The other shirt, unfortunately, does not exist yet. |

I could definitely see myself spending a good 20 minutes having a conversation with the "Ted" while everyone just kind of stares at me wondering whats going on.....

Won't you run the risk of crushing people's hopes and dreams when they see the real world you next to a characiture of your alter ego? Unless the comic Woody really isn't a characiture in which case I must say you have very supple skin!
EDIT: Incidentally, while my first sentence was really just a setup for the "punchline," I want to be sure that I was not saying that Woody's real world appearance would in any way be a let down in and of itself. In fact, Woody is likely a very handsome lad with very symmetrical, pleasing facial features...somebody help me stop digging. |

While I would really like a picture with Ted, I guess a picture with Woody would be alright.

Why make the fans choose? Can you get a lifesize corrugated plastic stand-up of yourself as well?
