Yep. It's getting closer. Can you believe in less than 3 months you will all be subjected to Poopy strips for a whole new reason? I am certainly excited, scared, apprehensive, elated and other adjectives as well.

The major announcement we wanted to release today is that we've officially set the date for the Baby Shower for Sunday October 7th at 2pm (MST) and you are all invited!

There will be a live web feed with audio, as well as an IRC chat during the festivities. I'm hoping that this will allow for folks who really do love and support GU like a family to participate and feel like they are part of this whole baby process. Also, given the nature of Baby Showers (traditionally it's to shower the expectant couple with gifts for baby) I found it tacky to mention it to you all without offering SOME way for you to be there when I open gifts.

A fun side note for anyone who's interested in getting a gift for the GUspawn or donating (anything over $5), Woody's promised to do a GU thank you card that will feature some original artwork, as a special way for us to thank you for your support and love.

We understand that the baby will live somewhat in the public eye because of the way I tend to weave my own life into the comic. So we figured for those who were interested in buying stuff from our registries or donating, we'd try to include them by streaming the shower live and someone would tell the gift and gift giver via a chat client. We'll also field as many questions through the chat client as we can.

It's somewhat of an odd thing, I know. But, we want to include everyone that's interested in participating (especially those who donate or purchase items for us from one of the various registries).

And I swear, if you buy us a piece of baby furniture from the registry and I have to post a "Poopy Strip" because I spent all day trying to assemble the damn thing, I'll put you in the comic, instead of Iggy, explaining what you've done.

YOu know, for that it is almost tempting to get some furniture for you guys...

Although, if you think the furniture will be bad. Just wait until the baby gets older and you get to put together all those toys! WEE! The fun never stops!

Hey, cool, I just realized that the EDD is right around the time of The Cuteness's 2nd birthday.

Having the date is nicey, so I can set it aside, but what *time* is the shower going down? I missed it, if posted....

Wow that's on my hubby's birthday...and the day after a black belt test we have to help with down here in sunny FL, so I doubt we'll be able to get up there, but MAJOR GRATS you two! I hope all your well-wishers stick to what you actually want as shower gifts.
