FigurePrints: scaling down perversion. (12/14)
I read about the folks at FigurePrints a couple of weeks ago, but the site was not yet active. Now that it is all I have to do is learn to wait patiently until I get a chance to buy one myself. See, demand for these statues is so high right now that you have to win a drawing to be one of the folks who can pay to have their character produced in 1:18 scale. In my opinion it's worth the wait.
Now, I asked the guys at FigurePrints a few questions as I was preparing to do this comic, but I did not ask them what their policy was on character gear. Would they even allow someone to "print" a naked bloodelf chick? I'll ask again when I mail them a link to the comic and see what they have to say on the matter. So, from the information I received, FigurePrints expects to accept several hundred orders in the "first batch". They have four of the machines that make the "prints" and are currently exploring ways to ramp up capacity. I've got my fingers crossed to be one of those chosen, having Grek on my desk will be awesome. But, even at the risk of reducing my own chances, I encourage all of you to visit FigurePrints.Com. |

That is going to show up on so many hot lists for christmas gifts. Such a clever idea. It's to bad they can't crank out more, I'd get one for my father.

Do you also get to pick which pose they are in? Furthermore, it would be awesome if you could pick a time when your character was buffed. I am a shaman, so I demand mine be in the /flex pose, just after I cast heroism! mwahaaha 1:18 scale x30% increase in size, and my hands glow! Oh yeah, how will they deal with glowy effects like eyes and such? My shoulders are nowhere near as impressive if they aren't glowing with BBQ fire! I anticipate high demand for...um...ever...
....people will now have their avatars on their desks, and will show them off to every one they know. Next thing to come will be replica armor and equipment. People will be going around sporting authentic Cataclysm Raiment and Gronnstalker and and...stuff. I can anticipate other spin offs to milk more money from people attatched to their toons, but I'll leave that alone for now. |

That's awesome! Eye candy <3 I hope they extend to other game eventually too. I'm glad to see someone was thinking along the lines I have been - I've been wanting a T-shirt or a poster with all my toons from various games on it... but it seemed so egocentric tbh lol. Anyway, now I don't feel so abnormally interested in my characters' um attributes. Thanks Woody!!

Machiko, yeah, they have a page that shows a range of poses for you to choose from. Hit the FigurePrints website and click the "Try the Demo" link below the main navigation on the left.

I was really surprised that they were not able to secure more capital up front to increase manufacturing capacity. Nearly everyone I game with would love to have one of these but the "wait in line for a chance" model is a little wacky.

This is almost significant motivation to go back and get my paladin full Tier 2 armor. Almost.

Why don't they get some venture capitalists to fund expansion so they can actually meet the demand? Ah well...
While the right to get the doll is linked to the account at figureprints and they claim it is non-transferrable one has to wonder.... what prevents me from selling my figureprints acct to the highest bidder once I'm selected in a drawing? How would they know and why should they care? Ah well... [ Posts merged. Posting back to back is a rule violation. ] |
