I want to see Cloverfield! (1/18)

I have a problem. I want to see Cloverfield but I hate going to the movie theater. I want to see Cloverfield NOW, but I'm an agoraphobic hermit that refuses to even drive past a theater on a big opening weekend.

Okay okay so saying I'm agoraphobic might be stretching it a bit. But I really do loathe the idea of going to a movie theater. The tiniest sounds pull me right out of the movie. I can hear other people breathing and whispering, slurping and crinkling their candy bags. My shoes stick the floor. The jackass behind me keeps bumping my seat. Even when I go to a theater with stadium seating for a movie with a nearly empty house an 8'5" person always sits right in front of me. Needless to say my theatre experiences to date have NOT been spectacular and I paid for the "honor".

What I need is a friend that runs a theater that'll let me sneak in after hours and watch the movie... after the floors have been thuroughly cleaned of course.

I'm really excited to go see Cloverfield too, it looks like it should be good. I was going to go see it Monday, but it is MLK, Jr. Day and I'm not sure I want to brave the droves of kids will be at the theatre.

I wonder if you'd go to a theater to see a movie if they named it "Forsooth"...

I have a friend that has a similar aversion to going to movies for the same reason. Even other people chewing around him makes him queasy sometimes...stems from a childhood with a relative (I think a brother) who had a mental disability that caused him to lack control over most of his motor skills...including keeping food in his mouth while eating it seems.

I don't know if it's something that'd interest you, but once when he was relaying his undesired pet peev to one of his buddies, they suggested that going to see a hypnotist might cure it. I don't even know if that works for sure though...my friend hasn't been able to make it by the hypnotist yet.

Awesome comic though! I must say I'm relieved...when I first read the comic, I thought you were ill with the flu or some gross resemblance to it.

When we were first married, my wife used to work in a really nice theater, and we used to get in free during the lighter times. So, as long as we were willing to avoid Friday and Saturday evenings, we would go see pretty much every new movie that came out.

Unfortunately, it spoiled both of us, and things haven't been the same since we moved and now have to pay for the movies.

Go see the movie you deserve a break and some entertainment (for your pocket book, not such entertainment)

When it comes to distractions ruining the immersion of a movie, I actually prefer the theatre. My house is often very roudy, and the phone rings non-stop. Often I've sat down to watch a 90 minute movie, and through pausing and rewinding, it's well over 2 hours before I see the whole thing.

Naming the movie Forsooth, would not make me want to go to a theater at all.

Justa Mirage, you read in the writeup about how I don't like going to movie theaters right?

---

Radial, true enough. But in the movie theater I can't rewind. **grins**

It does look awesome, especially since you dont actually see in the preview what is attacking the city.
