Man GTA4 is HOT! (4/30)

Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto IV released yesterday to a parade of perfect scores from popular game review sites. [more info] And Guinness World Records is watching the game incase it breaks any existing records. [more info]

Well, that's all fine and good. But when I saw all those 10's, my brain immediately flipped into parody mode. Now, some of you younger folks in the crowd probably have NO idea what I'm referencing. So for the sake of bringing you up to spead here's the IMDB entry for the 1979 film '10'. [picture]

I know I know, the comic is slanted sharply toward the disturbing. And I'm okay with that. Like I told someone during the Live feed while I was working, "I'll consider the bleeding eyes a sign of appreciation." If you ask me Niko Bellic (GTA4's main character) never looked so good. **shudders** Eww, I just grossed myself out a little.

Now, even though I don't think a game needs to be flawless to receive a perfect score. It's still pretty hard for me to wrap my brain around the idea of giving a game a perfect score (on a 10 point system) when a 9.5 is a perfectly viable option. Sure I'm probably wrestling symantics in a pool of minutia, but that's just how I feel. I haven't played the game yet, I can't be certain. It may very well be Bo Derrick in beaded dreads running on a beach in a skin colored bikini. I just don't know.

Ha ha. See what I did there? I brought the whole writeup full circle and crap.

from the homepage all I saw were dreads and *a perfect 10* and I too flashed back to Bo. Sorry to say that's a game that won't be in this house if It's M... but you all enjoy it.

My wife had run out to pick it up for me last night and I ended up playing it from when I got off work till I went to bed pretty much non-stop.

I have to say, this game is totally engrossing and the storyline so far is spectacular. Just driving around the city has been incredible at this point and much more interesting then any previous GTA game.

Most interesting fact was after about 4 hours of playing, I'd only killed 4 people. It is just a much more interesting game to play and not just go on random killing sprees like previous games.

I picked it up on the way home last night. It's phenomenal. As a previous poster said, you don't really feel the need to immediately go on a killing spree in the game, because the story and the city are so engrossing. I did, however, time exactly how long it would take me to randomly start offing pedestrians that got on my nerves. Two Hours and Forty Five minutes. :-)

I'm not sure if I'm the only one, but I think that this one is kind of a pain with the controlling. I've got about 5 hours of play time under my belt now and I can still barely drive some of the cars. GTA3, Vice City and San Andreas seemed to be alot easier to control. /shrugs the rest of the game is still pretty amazing

Perhaps the game doesn't have to be perfect to get 10, just that much better then the games they gave 9.5 to already. Of course if there is another game that comes out that is that much better again then they've rather rated themselves into a corner.

Brian hurts.

In a good way though.

I am impressed with the characters I have met so far, though its only the dispatch office and Michelle (Michelle?--the first taxi run you do).

And one of the 360 Achievements you can get is "Warm Coffee"--for when your girlfriend invites you up to her apartment.

You should see the NY Times and MSNBC reviews gushing about this game.

And the radio is hilarious. Weasel News Network!
