Yes. I am an unrepentant fashion whore. (8/27)
I've made this point time and time again. Probably in every MMO I've played so far. I am a fashion whore. That is to say I will often factor the look of a piece of armor into my "should I equip this piece" equation. I have made every effort NOT to this on the blood elf rogue. He's already so prissy there's just no point in me dolling him up too much. Besides I'm often stealthed and can't tell how badly mismatched my armor is any way.
Moving on I'd also like to say, apparently the secret to leveling an alt is to put new content in front of me. That is to say I've never done the Bloodelf quest lines before. So, until I get kicked over to the standard Horde grind, I'm content. Unfortunately... I think I'm about 4 quests from being kicked over to the standard Horde grind. **sighs** I blame my horribly mismatched armor. |

It takes me quite a while to be willing to level an alt myself. Stealth is really important in those low levels to hide your shamefully hodge-podge armor though.
I'm greatful that LOTRO put in the outfit system to allow you to equip outfits rather than always show the armor you have equipped. |

I've been buying every newly available armor set as I level from the cloth/leather armor merchant in Silvermoon City. I cannot WAIT to get out of this Tanned Leather monstrosity (which makes me look a hairy beast) and into the Battered Leather (which actually looks kinda nice). The sad thing is, it'll take me forever to the make the 1 gold 2 silver (approx.) to buy the set! hehe...

I'm the kind of person that doesn't give a thought to the appearance of the armor my toons wear.
I did have a person in my guild a while back that refused to wear chest or shoulder armor, because it was never 'hawt'. |

While leveling, I don't mind ugly armor, I won't wear tem long enough to bother. But once max level and begining to wear epic pieces for a long moment, it better look cool.

EQ2 has appearance slots. Once you hit level 20, appearance is no longer an issue.
Even before level 20, though, most decent equippables aren't so gaudy that you'd never want to wear them. They tend to go well together. Sometimes I wonder why everyone is so heavily invested in WoW. =) Powers &8^] |

When ever I'm working on a new 'lock or mage, I run them to the tailoring shop and buy them the starter robe. It's an ugly drab thing, but the starter cloth armor is a disgusting mismatch of raggedy clothing which changes color by the minute as I blow through the starting quests. I also hang onto anything cool looking in my bank, and yank it out when I'm not going to be working on my level. I still have the had that human warlocks get from the quest where you have to poison a guy.

Andy, I've been playing WoW since early beta. Yeah, I've seen them all. I played through the Barrens 4 times before the game was released.
I don't alt much though. I'm just not very good at it. But every time I try... I see the same content again and again which doesn't help. |
