I got this joke submission yesterday afternoon while I was working on my "Chef de Cuisine" achievement. I thought it was clever enough but I hadn't committed to it yet. Later that evening I get a whisper from a friend in game linking me to his shiny new "Sunwell Plateau" achievement meaning his guild had finally downed Kil'Jaeden. I congratulated him and jabbed at him about the Burning Crusade boss nerf not hurting. At that point I knew I had to make this comic for Zexion.

Here's Zexion's email about the suggestion:

As you probably know (but just haven't had a good comic idea about yet), in patch 3.0.2 Blizzard, along with majorly buffing pretty much every class in the game, they reduced the damage output of all raid mobs and reduced their HP by 30%.
I have a funny anecdote, regarding this change:

I have already been doing Black Temple for a couple of months in an old guild, but 1 month ago, I had to leave them due to RL issues. When I came back, a week or so ago, I applied to another guild, which was a bit less hardcore.
Before the patch they had only killed the 6th boss in there, Reliquary of Souls. Today, I joined their guild as a trial. We went in, and oneshotted every boss, up to an including RoS, a boss they had previously spent 5 weeks trying to kill.

Then we decided to go on to boss #7, Mother Shahraz, a heavy Shadow Resistance encounter, even though few had shadow res gear ready. We got to her, and I, as the only person there with experience clearing BT, gave them tactics (which they didn't excactly follow) on how to kill her, and we gave it a shot. A oneshot that is. Even though we were hardly prepared, we managed to down her on the first try. Many lols were had over how ridiculously zergy and easy BT had become.

That spawned a funny scenario. Illidan just giving you loot without even trying to kill you. Which gave me the idea for this following comic:

Zexion included details about his character in case I wanted to put him in there as the "Raider". So yeah, that's my best guess at Zexion on the left there.

Thanks for the comic suggestion Z and congratulations on your new guilds success. That Burning Crusade Boss Nerf didn't hurt did it? **grins** (Couldn't resist.) Oh and Illidan says, "Don't forget to buy Wrath of the Lich King."

I actually kinda like the black and whites. But yeah, killing Illidan when he was the real deal was a bit of a chore. Didn't know that they nerfed him that bad. Though I'm one of the few x-hardcore raiders that is down for those types of things. I think end-game-raid-content is the games best part, and after a while, every one should get their chance at experiencing it.

The guild that I am in on Dunemaul has been killing him for a couple months, but it always took two nights to clear through BT. Now we are doing it in a little over 2 hours.. The nerf is nice though cause people that have not seen the content have a chance too.

well of course IIlidan us gonna drop the LK promo. He's been getting beat on for months, no doubt he wants to pass some of the love over to good o' Arthas. They got history, ya know?

Yeah Before the patch my guild was taking 2 nights to finish bt and we were only able to down kelegos and now after the patch we blow through bt in 2 hours and are working on mu'ru

ROFL, that is awesome.

It is funny how the manufacturers add please buy the expansion for every release into the game.

Were the bosses in the highest end of the current expansion really "too hard" for people to beat that Blizzard had to gimp them for the majority to enjoy them? Doesn't that start to ruin the uniqueness of those bosses being downed?

I quit WoW a while back, so I didn't get to see these encounters, but really...why lower their strength so that a PUG could probably down them?

Wait for the next patch, gain some more levels, then go back and see what the higher-end guilds were playing with all these times.

Next thing you know, there will be large red dots on the map in WoW, or just auto-pilot button to go to the destination...~coughs~

I once actually joined a PUG group on Kara before the nerf, and we whiped on even curator multiple times

but now I've done 2 PUG runs after the nerf, last one even being a 9-man, and its a walk in the park. So you don't get me complaining, but something like a heroic mode for these raids would be nice, so real teams/groups from dedicated guilds can still catch real challenges

Hmm.... I may go try a few runs..... if I can avoid the masses of zombies out there right now, gods I love world events.
