My trip to "visit" Illidan (11/4)

I've defined my MMO gameplay style, for years, as "hardcore casual". For me that means I play a lot but I focus on those things I can do on my own. I've made friends in "high places" over the years so I'm occassionally invited along to do content I'd otherwise never have a chance to experience.

This was the case last night when the folks in Ruination (Doomhammer's #1 Horde Raid Guild) invited along on their post-nerf Illidan stomp. So, I collected my instructions on how not to wipe the raid, taped them to my other monitor, and hopped on their vent server to make sure I didn't miss anything.

The only way I can describe the conversation is "colorful". There's zero hesitation when it comes to saying exactly what's on their minds. And there's not a hint of political correctness. So when it was suggested that I might do a comic about Ruination, I was at a loss for what I might be able to use of the raid chatter. In the end I decided to just black out what I couldn't say without changing the rating at GU. Yeah... that worked out well.

Note: Illidan dropped like Skoob's pants at a Village People convention.

Great comic! But it would have been better if you had ▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓ and a donkey and then ▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓ a shaman. ▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓ that canned cheese stuff and then ▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓. ▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓ warlock mount ▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓. At least that is what I think.

I laughed when I saw this. My wife and I have been memebers of one of the top raid guilds on our server since the game came out.

And I was happy when we bought headphones. One night we where raiding, and I had the window to our old apartment open.

A few hours later, security came buy, telling us they had recieved complaints about someone shouting foul language to people walking by. *We lived on the third floor*

It has to be the raid mentality or the preasure from the high end raiding that leads to this. Honestly in the raids I have been in we have had people as young as the low teens to people in there 60's and 70's. And it has all been the same get in a raid and listen to the foul language flow.

But alais we left wow a few months back and went to EQ2.... I sort of miss the raid chatter.

That is Awesome. I have had a few raids like that. My wife asks why I'm giggling all the time. I had to tell her "I can't repeat what they said, I'm affraid I would be deported...and I was born here."

Everyone knows that Rar is the best guild on Doomhammer, and the version or rar that consisted of me...about a year ago.

Hah, okay, I'm kidding but great comic.

Lol now raid chatter in our guild is intentionally very polite but I am very happy that I have my mic on push to talk, because at least half of what I say I chose not to send "over the air' as I would likely get thrown out of the guild (And I am the leader). :-)

mic off "▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓ growl ▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓ area of effect ▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓▓ pet ▓▓▓▓" /mic on "Ok guys watch those AE's on the Crowd Controlled mobs."

Doomhammer server? You play on the Doomhammer server? Holy geez, you play on the same server I do, Woody? Didn't know that. I guess I'll keep an eye open for a 'Grek' character in the future. (assuming that's your real character's name.)

Woody, you described just about every hard core guild in just about every MMO!

I used to run a high end raiding guild. And it's definitly true that people tend to lose their inhibitions (or it's just corrupted out of them) when they join a hardcore raiding guild. You literally have to tell new people they have to be able to handle a R-Rated chat.
