Alright that's enough of that joke. (2/11)
As soon as I wrote the Microsoft comic yesterday, I knew this one was coming. I make no excuse for beating the joke horse to death with this particular running joke. But, if you're going to do a series about "original"/"innovative" IP (intellectual property) how can you not take a jab at the return of Jason Voorhees?
We've been talking about the new Friday the 13th movie (hitting theatres this friday) in the Movie Review forum. Initially I was excited about it. I love horror movies. Jason was always my favorite slasher. So revisiting the plot of the first few movies didn't upset me in the least. I mean, I didn't think it was 100% successful, but I did enjoy the Rob Zombie Halloween revisit. So why not approach this revisit with enthusiasm? Why has my excitement started to waver? Well the answer is simple... They drafted one of the "actors" from the oh so horrible TV series Supernatural to serve as the male lead and somehow I doubt they're going to let Jason bash in his pretty little head with someone else's torso. I haven't completely given up hope that he'll die horribly Paris-Hilton-in-House-of-Wax style. |

Hah...I still kind of want to see the movie, even with the lead being one of the guys from Supernatural. Even if I'm not really into the recent explosion of horror remakes. Rob Zombie's Halloween was pretty good, even if he obviously didn't get what made the original so scary. (Explaining Mike Meyer's motivations in a remake of the first Halloween is silly. There was a reason he was credited as 'The Shape' in the original. He's supposed to be extremely ambiguous.)
It's actually getting decent reviews from people who are taking it as a slasher movie instead of some kind of high art and the new guy playing Jason, Derek Mears, has been great in the other horror movies he's done recently. Plus the trailer for the new Quentin Tarantino movie, Inglorious Basterds is showing before it! |

Jared Padalecki (the actor from Supernatural) starred in House of Wax.

I love your comics Woody, and this one was no exception. And I usually don't feel the need to post here but...
SUPERNATURAL ROCKS! ![]() Seriously, you don't like it? I'm a horror movie fan myself, and I love the show, and was happy to see Jensen Ackles cast in it. I personally think the guy has a lot of range after watching three and a half seasons of the show. He can play funny, serious, and even a little romantic I find, with not a lot of stretch and believability in the character. But, I will allow that I may be looking at this through rose-colored glasses, since I love the TV show. What is it you don't like about the show, Woody? |

I'm not a big fan of horror movies, and I can recall running up and down the stairs (during the scary parts) when the first Friday the 13th was on TV (before VCR's).
However I am really curious, what is Jason's death count at now? |

EA does horrormovies now?
![]() anything with more then 7 titles just screams EA inside my head, maybe that's just me being traumatised with the Sims though... |

I'm with Woody on this. I saw the preview a while back and got all excited about it. Then I saw the cast list and moved it to the rental list. |

I think this was just Woody wanting an excuse to draw Jason, am I right?
Also, how many different ways can the same horror story be told? (They got to so many Halloween movies they needed to stop using numbers in the title, I mean come on) |

Hmm, I didn't know Supernatural had haters... never really occurred to me. We really like the show here.
Any time Jason Voorhees is brought up I think of that awful movie "Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday". Omg, the makeup/effects in that movie were just so very bad. |
