March 16th is SOE Day in San Diego. (3/11)

Yesterday, the City of San Diego officially proclaimed March 16th 2009 to be "Sony Online Entertainment Day". Presented by City Council member Carl DeMaio, the honor coincide's with Everquest's 10th anniversary and celebrates the company's employment of over 600 San Diegans, their 60+ published titles, and their charitable work in the San Diego community.

Okay, so I've given SOE a lot of crap over the years. But I won't give them too much crap over getting a day dedicated to them in San Diego. Whether you like SOE or not, you can't deny the number of people they employ, the amount of money they bring into San Diego, and the massive amounts of charitable work and money they contribute to the San Diego community. So yeah, kudos SOE. And for those of you that take issue with this honor, try to derive solace in the fact that it's only one day. It's not a yearly thing.

The question left infront of us now, with just under a week to go, what will you do on SOE Day?

My plan is to fire up EQ again, and see what's what. I doubt I'll play Vhah much as the re-learning curve is ridiculously steep. I've been away for a long while; so, it may be easier to just start a new character and ride the day out like that.

The end is nigh! The Sony Beast is now recognized with it's own holiday!
Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies!
Rivers and seas boiling!
Forty years of darkness! Earthquakes, volcanos!
The Dead Rising from the Grave!
Human Sacrifice, dogs and cats living together, Mass Hysteria!!!

I kid. Happy Birthday Everquest!!!

As someone else mentioned on chat when they heard of this, SOE day on the 16th just means that on March 15th, the City of San Diego will be shut down for an 8 hour patch to enable this day. )

It'll be raid day, so my guild will be raiding somewhere. The Fabled events may be starting by then so we may even be chugging through Fabled Time.

Oh and given all the changes done, starting a fresh character isn't a bad idea, at least to relearn the ropes and such. You may want to start patching early just in case (But after tomorrow. Tomorrow is a patch day). Too bad though that you won't be able to use mercs unless you own SoD.

Man, 10 years of Everquest. I may have to fire it up again for a day as well. I started back in Beta and then played for 6 years, with over 530 days playing time in total on my main.

Playing for 1 day wouldn't bring back the addiction, would it?

Of course not.
*points at own title*

...Hell, I'm thinking of ways I can explain changes to Woody to help him get accustomed to "new EQ" ... Guess all I can say is if you're going to play warrior - get a healer Merc, and solo to your heart's content.

Oh, and defiant gear has made most all other gear in the entire game obsolete - but if you want to buy a full set in the baz, do it on a high toon. The gear is "attunable" (soulbound) so it's most abundant at higher levels, and therefore much cheaper. Elaborate defiant plate is the cheapest armor on Povar right now - how's 50pp for level 59 leggings?

I recently started playing again and YES the addiction is back. But leveling is so much faster now! I put on 5 levels in less than an hour in OT the other day. Buy SOD and get the Merc! Nothing like being able to solo reds.

I tried to play EQ again last year and ended up drowning because I forgot how to swim. lol Good thing I was a SK so I could summon my body. That was it for me. I figure if I couldn't remember how to swim I wasn't going to remember how to do much else.
