Gushed my way into a Faux Pas. (3/13)
Speaking to Billboard.Com recently, Dhani Harrison, son of the Beatles' George Harrison, revealed that he was largely responsible for making "The Beatles: Rock Band" happen stating, "I took the project to Apple [Records] and sort of convinced everybody to have a presentation". Harrison also modeled some of the game's characters and proclaimed the title the "first one" to be "totally, historically accurate". "The Beatles: Rock Band" is scheduled for release September 9th of this year on the 360, PS3, and Wii.
Source: Billboard.Com [ more info ] From the time I picked up the first Guitar Hero, I wondered if Beatles Music would ever make it into the game. Over the years I'd kind of given up hope. But then Harmonix, with the help of Dhani Harrison apprently, went an made it happen. I was going to say "that kid deserves a pat on the back", but he's almost as old as I am, so, uhh... that dude deserves a [beverage of his choice]... or some such. I can't wait. I have no doubt Taks and I are going to drag our friends over and force them to play with us. At some point I imagine we'll have her parents over as well since they are both Beatles lovers and fake plastic guitar rythm game fans. (Her mom even has her own purple, custom guitar.) The only thing I haven't decided yet is will I just buy the game or will I go after the $250 Limited Edition Premium Bundle? I don't really like the Rock Band guitars, but I'm guessing (at $250) the bundle is going to feature plastic version of classic Beatles guitars. We'll have to wait until the Limited Edition Premium Bundle details are finalized/confirmed before I can really make a decision. Anyone else excited? Or am I completely alone in this? |

Alone? Hardly! This is something that I've been wanting for a while too. Granted, some of there lesser than #1 hits will be excluded, but still, it's the Beatles.
Man, makes me wish I didn't have to sell my Wii a couple months back...*grumble* |

This is the game I have been dying for since I first discovered Guitar Hero at PAX'05.
My parents and I have always had a major connection through the music of the Beatles, and this might be just what I need to convert them wholly into my hobby. |

Beatles music will be a great addition to the line-up of music. I don't think I'll pay for the limited edition though...at this point I'm kind of "limited-editioned" out. If you know what I mean.

Definitely gonna go for that. Gonna be a long summer waiting for it I'm sure.
(And as I make this post, Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Heart Club Band is playing on the radio. ) I don't have any of the Rock Band gear yet for the Wii so the deluxe pack will be on my shopping radar. |

While I personally wouldn't play the game (yes you can shoot me, I am in no way a Beatles fan) from a business standpoint this seems like a sound move. I had a few friends over who enjoyed playing Guitar Hero and Rock Band, but only really played a few songs because they didn't like/know most of the other songs. I imagine there are plenty of other people in the same boat, and if some of those people are Beatles fans they might jump on board with the rest of us.
Now if they could just make a Saturday morning cartoon theme song version! It would be like the 'Warioware' of Guitar Hero/Rock Band. A bunch of quick songs shot at you. Who wouldn't want to pick up the mic and belt out 'TRANSFORMERS!'? |

While I'm not as big of a Beatles fan as my husband, I'm still excited, he on the other hand has already reserved a copy, never mind that he will be redeployed overseas by that point and won't be able to play it for months. He had to make sure I would go and get it.

The attempt here is to re-introduce one of the all time greatest bands to the current generation, best way to do that is on their terms. Across the Universe was a fantastic musicical complilation if not an visual orgy, a little Baron Munchausen anyone? This latest push should at least open a lot of younger eyes to the music that ruled the world.
While you can buy Dhani Harrison a pint, ill buy him a pub to drink it in. I have no issues waiting, at least now i know its coming. |
