A couple of weeks ago Activision Blizzard filed a trademark application for "Sing Hero". With its approval the title joins the laundry list of other Activision Blizzard trademarks that draw off of the success of Guitar Hero: DJ Hero, Band Hero, Drum Hero, Kyeyboard Hero, Dance Hero, Guitar Villain, Drum Villain, etc.

Like with most of the other trademarked names, the USPTO granting this application to ActiZard doesn't mean a game is definitely in the works. It just make sense for the company to capitalize on potential names for potential titles. You know, better to trademark it and not need it than to want it and find out someone else owns the trademark. As a matter of fact, I think I'll go apply for Pickle Hero right now.

I wonder if they will also be snagging up all those domain names as well. If they are going through the trouble of trademarking the names you'd think web domains would be a logical move.

Get that Pickle Hero domain Woody, don't let it slip through your fingers!

Once (if) it's granted they'll have a small period of time in which to prove they actually use the trademark, or they'll eventually lose it. Of course, I'm certain they're adept at the game of "we may have such a game underdevelopment" and getting all the PTO check marks done.

Pickle Hero? While you're at it, you better grab Sandwich Hero as well and make it a full lunch....
