About two weeks ago it was whispered to me that Shadowbane was closing. A little over a week later Stray Bullet Games' Community Manager, Brian Lucas, confirmed the whisper, linking an article talking about the history of the game and announcing the May 1st final day. [more info]

For as long as there has been a Zapper, Shadowbane (and his trusty companion Horizons) has sat at its edge narrowly avoiding the blue flash of being zapped itself. Now the time has come for the Shadowbane fly to sail nobly to his death.

Whether this means he will no longer appear in the Zapper comic remains to be seen. Strictly speaking, as long as a game is remembered it is never truly dead. And I have no intention of forgettng Shadowbane any time soon. We'll just have to wait and see.

Love the comic! I think you should keep Shadowbane. The Zapper wouldn't be the same without him!

I think I sense the ghost of Shadowbane still hanging around the zapper... after being on the edge so long, I don't think the zapper can let Shadowbane go.

So if you keep the Shadowbane fly will he now and forever be smoking and a little crisp after the encounter with the Zapper?

my vote: a Valkyre Shadowbane fly

A crispy Shadowbane fly would be cool, but a ghostly or angel looking fly would also be an interesting image to see when it welcomes new victi.. uh, guests! to the zapper.

I think Shadowbane deserves a blue glowy

I vote that he come back all blue and glowy like Yoda does in Star Wars....LMAO. That way he can still make comments and it proves that Shadowbane can never truly die!

There goes the one MMO that I couldn't stay away from.
