Says the dead guy wearing the duck floatie. (5/6)
So, played Plants vs. Zombies almost the whole day. Then Taks came home and after getting the Kid down for the night, she got wrapped up in the game too. If you haven't already, I encourage you to go try the demo.
I'll be honest with your here. It's everything I hoped it would be and maybe a little more. The replay value is fantastic. The graphics are cutesy but in a way that perfectly frames the core feel of the game. The gameplay and unit design are clever to say the least. This is probably my favorite game in years. Now, let's take a minute to let that sink in. World of Warcraft, Guitar Hero, Rock Band, Lego Star Wars, Fairway Solitaire... and they're all currently running behind Plants vs. Zombies. I'll be honest, I could do without the crazy neighbor next door. But hey, someone has to update you as the game changes while wearing a pot on his head. And, twiddydinkies don't sell themselves. Now if you excuse me, I didn't beat what I suspect to be the final boss last night before I started working on the comic. And I'd like to see if the mini-games and puzzles get difficult. |

With that resounding endorsement, I think I will give it a go tonight. Thanks Woody.

I have a friend who beta tested the game, he told me he lost 3 months of his life to it, it seemed like a good endorsement :P

I'm still on the fence about it. I love zombies so very very much. The cutesy thing is hard for me to get past, and after that horrendously annoying music video I sort of lost interest. I know, not everyone hated the video as much as I did, but there was something specifically nails-on-chalkboardish about the singer's voice that really got me.
So my pride or zombies? It's a tough choice. |

I downloaded the demo after only just reading yesterdays comic about an hour or so ago..
Played it until my demo was up... it was pretty fun I suppose, personally I prefer "maze" elements to my tower defence type games.. granted it's a bit of easy fun, and infact my first ever popcap game i've played, it was okay, I dunno if I could go so far as to losing months or even days over it, simple tactics seem to be the best, build lots of resource generating plants, then build your strongest shooter type plants, never came close to letting a zombie get near the house, wonder how hard it can get |

Ahhh, no shout out for Fantastic Contraption?
It's good to hear it's great though. Still haven't picked it up, but I will when I have time. |

I was remarking somewhere else that the whole Zombie thing was played out and all it needed to put it to bed for the decade was a musical.
Maybe "Zombies on Ice" or something. Dang! Nice to see that the franchise still has some life left in it! |

Downloaded the demo and played it through until the time ran out... 15 seconds shy of beating the level 8 boss. Dammit.
