No, she's not just stupid. (7/8)
By now, most of you have heard/read about Blizzard's plans to start offering a faction change service. [more info]
So, if the Blood Elf Paladin isn't just stupid, what is it I'm trying to say? Well, in the game Grek is an Orc through and through. From his perspective, Orcs are the Horde, everyone else are just, well... everyone else. But when Blood Elves were added his opinion shifted more toward the conspiratorial extreme. In Grek's mind Blood Elves are Alliance Wannabes. Their ability to be Paladins "strengthens his claim". But, over the years, he's slowly come to the conclusion that all non-Orcs are Alliance wannabes. - There are no baby Taurens that Grek has seen. So, obviously Taurens are born and raised as cows in the tree riddled fields of Elwynn Forest. - Undead used to be Humans. Not much doubt about their ties to the Alliance. - Since Night Elves and Blood Elves are both Alliance, have pointy ears, and. Trolls have pointy ears. Trolls must be Alliance as well. Now, obviously this is just a bit of roleplaying that I like to use pick at the people I was playing the game with. Thus far I have found out: Blood Elves don't really like being called Alliance Wannabes. And that, of course, is part of the fun. There's already plenty of other places for folks to talk/rant about the faction change service. I won't really comment on it here. And, you certainly shouldn't feel the need to talk about it here either. But if you want to, feel free. Up to you. |

I do hope they don't make you change your toon to change sides. Meaning if i want my undead mage to go to the Ally side they won't have to be somehow switched into a human or something. And really, what would a gnome switch into?
I know it's a long way off, but i'm really looking forward to it. ![]() To Woody: I see what you mean about the shading being very detailed. How long did it end up taking you to finish? Edit: I'm not entirely a fan of the concept yet, after reading the FAQ, though the idea of playing with friends on opposite faction and not having to reroll is intrigueing. I kinda liked the fact in EQII you could keep your toons appearance and such, that is of course after do the betrayel quest. |

My friends and I have been talking about this for some time now. Glad to see it coming closer to fruition.

I actually like the option. There's talk in my guild of many people bringing toons from other servers/opposite faction in as alts, and friends coming to play with us. Just another way to make sure you can always play with your friends, which IMO isn't a bad thing.

SO MUCH BLOOD!

So we won't be seeing Gnome's running around Orgimmar or Tauren's hanging out at Stormwind. It will be a faction switch and you will be able to select what race you want based on the class restrictions. Not bad. I hope it doesn't create an unbalance of horde or alliance on some servers but they did mention they have kept that in mind.

I hope for those who play Wow and are interested in this as an option, that Blizzard does not make it too costly. Having to change races kinda stinks though.
I've been playing EverQuest 2 since launch and the ability to change factions has been in game for a long time. At no cost to you in real world money, through a quest you can betray your faction and make the opposite side you home city. You get to keep your race but your class may be changed depending on what it is to start with. A cool feature for sure, so hopefully it will be worth using in Wow without having to sell off your first born child or anything. |

Oh, and Woody - if you take Grek into Nagrand, into the hills to the north on the border of Zangarmarsh, just above where it says Laughing Skull Ruins, you'll find something to disprove your Tauren theory. Also, really cute! |
