Okay now I'm a little less excited. (11/5)

Alright, this comic isn't particularly strong. And I'll own that. This is really just an excuse to mention yet again that I am a World of Warcraft mini pet whore. Which brings me to the reason for even making this comic. Blizzard put two new items up in their store: L'il K.T. and Pandaren Monk. They are mini pets. They are $10 each, and they are calling my name.

Woooooody! Come and buy us so that you can leave us neatly tucked away in your character's companion inventory, pulling us out only when you're trying to demonstrate how cool your collection isssss....

**coughs**
Excuse me.
It's true though.

On the plus side of the premium pet thing, for every Pandaren Monk pet that is bought between now and the end of the year Blizzard will donate $5 to the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

Lust.

I don't understand the desire to collect pets, but I do know what an additcion is. EQ clickies. Must. Have. Clickies....

But seriously. $10 for a "useless" pet is screwing ones player base.

In fact, I'll pop by the Make a Wish foundationn and donate $10 rignt now.

Ok now damn it! They are calling my name now too Woody! I don't know if I can resist their call. Or maybe I want to get those two to add to my collection as well. Curse you Blizzard...yet at the same time. Lust!

Tundar, how is that "screwing ones player base?" The player base isn't being forced to buy the pets. So if they do decide to spend $10 it's just that... their decision.

Megahut, it's a nice collection you have there though.

Noone is forcing anything, I admit, but they are very well aware of the addiction such gizmos can trigger.

And I just don't like the idea to pay for in game items.

I'm cool with this. This is only slightly different than the previous way of earning non combat pets: The card game.
I don't remember anyone complaining about the card game, and this is better.
A: One of the pets (odd that it's only one though) benefits one of the few national charities I support.
B: It removes the random factor from getting the pet. Before, you'd have to (statistically) buy 5+ packs of cards at five dollars a pop to get the pet. Now, you just spend your ten bones, and go about your way.

I'm not a fan of paying for items in-game with real money, this being the reason why I don't play games that are free to play, but give massive benefits to people willing to shell out a few bucks of real money (Puzzle Pirates, Runescape, etc.) While I see the clear reason, that these games cost money to make and support, I like the idea of players all being equal, which is why I play WoW. It's more than worth the $15 a month to play.
Having said that, I'm currently in the process of trying to get the Lil' Game Hunter achievement (75 companion pets) and I'm up to 65 atm. On the one hand, I don't want to pay $10 to get something essentially worthless, but on the other hand, I really do support the Make a Wish Foundation, so I bought the Pandaren, because it's worth $5 to me to have it in-game. Now I'm facing the delimma of buying the Lil K.T. because none of the $10 goes to anyone but Blizzard, and that's almost the equivalent of a month's gametime, and being a college student I have no income atm. However, I can afford it, and it might be worth $10 to me to avoid farming one of the whelplings or doing the tournament dailies. Plus I really want to see it freezing critters beside me and laughing at anyone I kill in pvp. Hard decision...
