You know you've been there. (3/2)
It's such a dark place we go to when we're playing a game that makes us struggle for every digital accomplishment. But, then when we actually DO what we set out to do we look back fondly on the effort.
It's what I call gamer masochism. And, in general, it takes a lot of back to back failure before we'll finally just give up. But, usually that's followed with a mental vow to come back and complete the task later. Now, I'm not going to waste anyone's time by trying to wax psuedo-psychological here. I'm just gonna say we've all been there. And, apparently, we all love it because we keep going back. What amuses me about the situation is how our normal verbal reservations gets thrown out the window while we're playing games. I for one hate the F-Bomb. But when I'm playing a game and get really stuck... I've been known to drop it. It takes a LOT. But, it happens. ____________________ Today's Pimpage: Woody is wearing a "Sad Psycho" shirt from Threadless.Com. |

Normally, I'm never one to swear in any setting but when playing something like... say... Soul Calibur 3, profanity becomes the native language of Gameroomatopia.
To my credit, in nearly 20 years of gaming, no broken controllers yet. That's a streak I'm proud to stand by. ![]() |

You mean like right now? About 75% of the EQ2 population can NOT* zone out of where they are? Stuck where ever they logged?

Very funny comic.
Would you believe even Magic: The Gathering online (solitaire version) drives me to F-bombing (which I rarely use). It's as if all the cards in the opponent's deck were hand selected specifically to thwart me. And there I am, cussing out a series of animated pixels. I use a nearly all black deck, with Icy Manipulator and white Disenchant -- so I particularly hate: White Knight (damn his soul to hell) and Whirling Dervish. These two cards alone can drive my blood pressure up alarmingly fast ![]() |

I hate when a section of the game is hard as hell. And you yell things like, "OH COME ON THE COMPUTER IS CHEATING! THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE!" and then the next time you come back you beat the level with ease. Happened to me on Half Life 2 and now recently Kingdom Under Fire.

I have done this so many times. I have only just started playing video games recently, while the hubby has been playing most of his life. I try about 3 times to get through something, the air getting bluer by the second, throw the controller at the hubby (usually not hitting him) and he breezes right through it. That is annoying. And it is always fun to sit next to the hubby while he is playing DOA4 and it fighting the blue glowy thing at the end. Physics went out the window on that one.

There have been a LOT of close fights where everyone in vent is cursing up a storm. The close fights are the best though, win or lose
